As a wedding hair and makeup artist, who has been involved with over 1000 brides and her bridal parties I’ve learnt my fair share of lessons along the way. One thing I know to be true is that every bride who comes to me has a unique story and vision for her wedding day.
Having had the privilege of working with over 1000 brides, each experience has been a lesson in love, life, beauty and embracing the unexpected.
No two brides are alike, that's what makes each wedding so special. From subtle classic to soft glam, every bride has her distinct style and personality, and it's our job to honour and celebrate that individuality.
Beauty is Beyond Skin Deep. While makeup and hairstyling are essential aspects of the bridal transformation, true beauty emanates from within. Sharing my own, personal learnings and subtle techniques to help my brides activate their inner strength is something that comes naturally to me. Allowing my brides to feel at ease, so they can stand in front of an audience with confidence, shining their brightest light. The most radiant brides are those who exude confidence, joy, and love, reflecting the beauty of their inner selves.
Communication is Key. In today's digital world, it's important to remember how lovely it is to connect over a chat, even for just 5 mins. Building a strong relationship with each bride is essential for understanding her vision and bringing it to life. Clear and open communication ensures that every detail is accounted for, leading to a stress-free experience on the wedding day.
Embrace the Unexpected. Despite meticulous planning, weddings are full of surprises – both delightful and challenging. Learning to adapt and embrace the unexpected is crucial in ensuring that every bride feels supported and reassured, no matter what curveballs may come their way. Sometimes this looks like jumping in to hold a baby while photos are being taken [and the baby has had a poo explosion btw]. Or subtly making space for the bride to have some chill time in the makeup chair because there is just too much going on.
It's All About the Experience. More than just hair and makeup, the bridal journey is about creating unforgettable moments. From the excitement of the trial run where it all starts to feel real to the calm reassurance on the wedding day, every interaction contributes to the overall experience for the bride. Learning to adapt to each personality and vibe on the day is art in itself.
Gratitude is Everything. Working with brides is a privilege and an honour, and expressing gratitude for their trust and confidence is paramount. Every bride who chooses us to be a part of her special day deserves our utmost appreciation and respect.
The lessons learned from working with 1000 brides extend far beyond beauty. They are lessons in empathy, authenticity, and the power of love to transform not only individuals but families, friends and communities. I am grateful to every bride who has invited me, and LoveCo to be a part of her story.
